Cicero’s effort to come back from down six runs in the fourth inning came up just short, as they fell 6-4 to Syracuse RBI on Saturday.
Cicero Big Blue managed four runs in the failed comeback. Michael Mooney, Alysa Mooney, Jackson Fudge and Jayden Wilmot fueled the rally with RBIs.
Cicero notched three runs in the ninth inning. The offense was led by Mooney, Fudge and Wilmot, all driving in runs in the inning. Michael Mooney, Alysa Mooney, Landon Coyle, Alex Smith, and Fudge each managed one hit to lead Cicero.
After adjusting to pitching conditions, Cicero started to see the ball better, made consistent contact and put solid balls into play. Aggressive base running by Landon Coyle gave the crowd an exciting triple to cheer about. A rocket hit deep to center field gave Alysa Mooney a 3-bagger that was a high point for the Big Blue offense.
Syracuse RBI scored five runs in the fourth inning. Syracuse RBI’s big inning was driven by doubles by Vince, Bill, Jerry, and Donna. They saw the ball well today, racking up 15 hits in the game. Donna, Jerry, Phil, Bill, and Vince each had multiple hits for Syracuse RBI. Donna led Syracuse RBI with three hits in four at bats.
Michael Mooney earned the MVP honor for Cicero on this night.
