It was a close game at Clay North Park on Friday night, as the CLL 14u Juniors team took on the Syracuse Sherwood 15u team.
Syracuse came into this game undefeated (2-0), with 14 runs scored and 6 given up. This was Cicero’s first league game of the season.

Cicero had Chase Mearon (single) and Sean Bombard (walk) on base in the bottom of the 6th inning as daylight was running out on the game. With potentially the final batter at the plate, Mearon stole 2nd base. Bombard attempted to steal home as the catcher made the throw to 2nd base, but a nice throw from 2nd to home caught Bombard at the plate for the 2nd out of the inning. This was followed by the third out as Mearon attempted to steal 3rd base on the same play.
According to game rules, even if the run(s) had scored, the final score would revert to the previous inning’s score when the umpire stopped the game.
