Cicero came into North Syracuse on Thursday prepared and ready to roll as they took on Geddes (14u Team Finnerty).
Cicero, who was the home team at NSJHS field, cruised to an easy victory 12-2.
Cicero Rattlers RBI got things started in the first inning. John Wozniczka doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Cicero notched five runs in the fifth inning, putting the game out of reach for Geddes. A walk by Connor Pearce, singles by Alex Sanes-Carmona and Jacob Calabria, and a sacrifice bunt by Michael Mooney helped bring in runs.
Alex Smith got the win for Cicero, going three innings while allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out five and walking one. Pearce threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Pearce recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Cicero, giving up 2 runs.
Cicero Rattlers RBI racked up ten hits on this night. Wozniczka, Conor Downer and Sanes-Carmona each collected multiple hits for. Wozniczka led the team with three hits in three at bats. Cicero Rattlers stole 18 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Smith led the way with four, followed by Downer, Wozniczka, Sanse-Carmona, Dan Capp, Pearce, Calabria, and Capece.
Runs for Cicero came in with Calabria, Wozniczka, Capp, Mooney, Smith, Downer and Pearce. Hits came from Sanse-Carmona, Calabria, Wozniczka, Capp, and Downer.
MVP on this night went to Alex Smith, who put in one of his best pitching performances of the season.
