Dean Capece drove in four runs on four hits to lead Rattlers 11U past North Syracuse RBI 15-4 on Monday at Lonergan Park.
Capece doubled in the sixth scoring two, singled in the third scoring one, singled in the fourth scoring one, and singled in the fifth scoring one.
Rattlers were the first to get on the board in the second when Max Balamut singled, scoring one run.
North Syracuse jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the second inning after a walk and single brought in a run.
Rattlers flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Max Balamut following a 6-pitch at-bat that drove in two.
Mason Vangel earned the win for the Rattlers. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking three. Seth McIlroy collected the save. Max Balamut and Hunter Woods each threw shutout innings for the Rattlers in relief.
Rattlers tallied 10 hits in the game. Max Balamut and Dean Capece each drove in four runs for Rattlers. Rattlers had patience at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Ryan Hooser, Mason Vangel, Eli Greer, and Seth McIlroy led the team with two free passes each. McIlroy also stole two bases. Rattlers didn’t commit a single error in the field.
MVP in this game was Dean Capece, who drove the offense, going 4-for-4 at the plate with 3 singles, 1 double, 4 RBI’s and 2 runs.
