Despite seeing it’s six-run lead whittled down by the end, The Cicero Rattlers team still held off North Syracuse for an 11-10 victory on Friday.
North Syracuse scored five runs in the failed comeback on walks and two singles.
The Cicero Rattlers was boosted by Ben Linstruth, who went 4-for-4 at the plate with 4 singles.
The Rattlers pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Max Balamut singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Linstruth singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Cicero scored five runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Joey Falcone and Linstruth, a triple by Marc D’Amico, and a RBI groundout by Balamut.
North Syracuse scored five runs in the fifth inning off of hits and walks.
Linstruth was credited with the victory for the Rattlers. The bulldog lasted two and a third innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out seven. Mason Vangel and TJ Vulcano entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Vulcano recorded the last two outs to earn the save.
Cicero Rattlers racked up 12 hits on the day. Ben Linstruth, Marc D’Amico, and Joey Falcone all managed multiple hits. Ben led the team in hits. Cicero stole 17 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Mason Vangel led the way with five.
