Game 2 of a Rattlers double-header came against the 2nd of two different ESM teams, the ESM Angels. Connor Pearce started on the mound for the Rattlers, who found themselves down 3-0 in the top of the first inning.
The Rattlers came back strong, scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. Daniel Capp led off with a single, followed by walks by Bombard, Sadowski, Matthews and Capece. Pop-out RBI’s from Calabria and Thelen brought in 2 runs and a deep single by KJ Cochran brought in another. The inning ended 4-3, Rattlers.
The Rattlers scored another run in the 2nd inning to make the score 5-3. ESM would come back to score 3 more in the 4th and 5th inning to make it 5-6 with Jacob Calabria pitching.
The Rattlers played smart baseball in the 5th inning, scoring 5 runs on 4 walks and 3 hits by Thelen, Cochran and Bertollini. Runs were scored by Bombard, Sadowski, Capece, Thelen and Cochran. Nicholas Capece took the mound for the rest of the game, giving up zero runs and 1 hit.
The game would end with a score of 10-6 in favor of the Rattlers.
MVP on the day was Nicholas Capece for stopping the ESM offense from the mound, scoring 2 runs and making multiple put-outs on defense.
