The Cicero Rattlers closed out the first indoor baseball session by matching their season high for hits in a game with 24.
Cicero shared the field with their friends from Syracuse as both teams battled it out under the lights on the Sport Center Arena turf.
There were plenty of hits and plays made by both squads. Cicero, however, held off a comeback attempt by Syracuse as time expired with the score 7-5 in their favor.
Hits on the night for the Rattlers included: KJ Cochran (6), Conor Downer (4), Nicholas Capece (4) Daniel Capp (3), Lucas Thelen (3), Alex Sanes-Carmona (2) and Sean Bombard (2). Doubles came from Thelen (2), Downer (1) and Capp (1).
Runs were scored by Capp (2), Bombard (2), Sanes-Carmona (1), Capece (1), and Thelen (1).
Some highlight plays on the night:
Long throw from LF by Sean Bombard to Lucas Thelen (1b) for the out.
Several nice scoops at first base by Thelen.
Multiple put-outs by Conor Downer (2B), including a game-ending play at 2nd base for the final out of the game.
Double-plays by KJ Cochran (ss) and Nicholas Capece (ss) (with Downer – 2B and Thelen – 1B).
Tag plays in the baseline by Conor Pearce (3b) and Conor Downer (2b).
Team captain on this night for Cicero was Conor Downer (2b).
MVP on the night was KJ Cochran, who went 6/6 at the plate and put in a solid performance in the outfield and short stop.
