The Cicero Rattlers baseball team came into the Sports Center Arena on Saturday night looking to top their previous high for hits in a night.

The number to beat was 15 – which was the number of hits they got in each of their first two nights.

On this night, the team racked up 18 hits – including doubles by Nicholas Capece and Batista Wood and a solo home run by Michael Mooney. The team also managed to put 32 balls into play.

Everyone tallied hits, with Batista (4), Capece (3) and Daniel Capp (3) at the top of the list. Lucas Thelen, Kenton “KJ” Cochran, Conor Downer and Michael Mooney put up 2 hits each.

Alex Sanes-Carmona, Connor Pearce, Jack Clary and Alysa Mooney were unable to play on this night.

Daniel Capp was the team captain for this game. He spent most of his time making good plays from the outfield as he went 3/5 (.600) at the plate.

Highlight plays of the night included:

Long throw from left field to first base by Cochran to Thelen for the out.

Solo home run by Michael Mooney to right field.

Nice catch by Batista Wood over 2nd base.

Multiple put-outs by Batista, Capece and Downer in the infield.

Multiple plays at first base by Thelen, including one where he had to dive to the bag to beat the runner.

Multiple put-outs from right field to 1st base by Daniel Capp, including one off of a diving catch. Capp also made a nice catch in deep center field.

MVP on this night was Michael Mooney for his exciting home run to right field and solid play at first base and right field.

Indoor baseball offers a fast-paced, fun experience that packs up to 12-innings into less than an hour. There are plenty of hits and exciting plays – including crazy catches off the ceiling, sliding catches, plays off the back wall and bare-handers by charging infielders.
