Cicero Big Blue lost the lead late in a 6-5 defeat to ESM on Friday at Central Park.
In the first inning, ESM got their offense started when they scored one run on a stolen base. They were able to put 2 more runs on the board in the second innning, making it a 3-0 game.
Cicero woke up in the fourth inning, tallying four runs to take the lead, 4-3. Cicero batters contributing to the big inning included Jacob Calabria, Michael Mooney, and Drew Matyasyk, all driving in runs in the inning. Scoring for Cicero was Nicholas Capece, Alex Smith, Ryan Keil and Jacob Calabria.
Cicero was ahead 5-3 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning. They were unable to hold the lead, giving up 3 runs on a series of hits. The game was tied at five with ESM batting in the bottom of the fifth when, with 2 outs and 2 strikes on the batter, a passed ball resulted in the go-ahead score for ESM.
Connor Pearce toed the rubber for Cicero. He allowed ten hits and six runs over six innings, striking out 8 and walking one.
Ryan Keil followed on the mound, pitching 2 innings. He allowed 1 hit, no runs and struck out 6.

Cicero had a chance in the final inning when Sean Bombard got on base, but they were unable to advance the runner and tie the game.
